Ron Thiele elected President of Digital Alberta

Xpan President Ron Thiele has been elected President and Chair of the Digital Media Association of Alberta. Digital Alberta is an industry-led organization devoted to promoting and connecting Alberta's thriving digital media community. Through professional development workshops, advocacy work, marketing, international market access and business development activity, Digital Alberta works to build the digital media industry provincially and abroad.
Digital media represents two key sub-sectors of content creators (interactive entertainment, video games, e-learning and education. information and reference, social, cultural and arts, and animation) and technology enablers (software development, digital compression, internet applications, visual effects and interactive television). The global digital media industry is expected to grow from $28.5 billion in 2005 to more than $65 billion by 2010. In Alberta, digital media is considered a key contributor to the provincial ICT industry which is made up of 6,300 companies, 57,000 employees, and generating over $9.4 billion in annual revenues.
