Xpan launches new APTA course

June 15, 2009

Chicago, IL - In partnership with the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), Xpan is proud to launch the second course for Rail Industry Signal Maintainers, Introduction to AC Track Circuits for Signal Maintainers. Xpan premiered this course at the 2009 APTA Rail Conference in Chicago.

This second online course follows on from APTA’s first online course, Introduction to Track Circuits for Signal Maintainers, which focused on the conventional DC track circuit. Both online courses are intended for novice signal maintainers, as well as for those who may need a refresher in the basics and troubleshooting. The content, focus, and examples used in this second online training course represent priority areas identified and agreed upon by project team members as being critically important for this course.

The technical platform, instructional design, courseware development and all production was provided by the Calgary-based team at Xpan Interactive. Online training modules are being developed as part of a training toolkit for rail industry signal maintainers. The computer-based training program is highly interactive and will be available through APTA’s web site.

Learners who are new to the rail industry will benefit from the self-paced modular approach to learning. The program uses a SCORM and AICC compliant learning management system to measure and manage the program.

“We are very excited to work with APTA and their members, as we help them lead the way in online training in the public transportation sector,” says Ron Thiele, President and CEO of Xpan.
